Galatians 1, First and Second Stanzas

Grace and peace from God the Father
Comes by Jesus Christ our Lord,
Who himself gave for our sins so
That our rescue he secured.
By the will of God the Father
We’ve escaped this evil age,
Only through the Savior’s mercy:
Christ forever we shall praise.

Let us not confuse our standing
Owing merit to our deeds,
For to do so is distortion
Of the gospel Jesus preached.
By the law no man is righteous
But by faith we’re justified.
All our sin and guilt was carried
To the cross when Jesus died.
